Apart from the typical cooking utensils and equipment such as saucepans, pots and plates. Below are some atypical items which can be found in Nepali homes. 


Rice Cooker 

Cook rice perfectly every time without any hassle. A simple and cheap cooker will do the job. Just put rice and water in, and leave the rice to it. Meanwhile, you can start cooking your daal, and tarkari.


Want to cook meat dish, lentil soup, and various kind of soup? As Nepali, we don't really use slow cookers, just throw everything into a pressure cooker, wait 2 whistles for vegetables, 4 whistles for meat depending on your cooker. Quick and easy!



Momo Steamer 

This is an essential item if you plan to make momo regularly, which a lot of Nepali do. It can also be used to steam your vegetables.

 


Plates most suited to having the staple dish of Nepal Daal Bhat. It will accommodate the accompanying Tarkari, Achar, salad, yogurt, chilli, onions or whatever you fancy! It may also be used in pooja which is a worship ritual performed by Hindus to offer devotional homage and prayer to one or more deities, to host and honour a guest, or to spiritually celebrate an event.
